We were a fabulous team at Felicini’s restaurant and many of us are still in touch nearly 40 years later.
Whilst many remain in the restaurant business to this day, others have moved on to new challenges.
Coronation Street is filmed in Manchester so we were fortunate to get to know some of the cast. One of the favourite restaurants written into Coronation street was “Delfine’s”.
We always wondered whether or not that was entirely coincidental?
Felicini’s Italian Ristorante opened in West Didsbury, Manchester, in the summer of 1982 and was literally an overnight success.
From day one the atmosphere was electric and the ambience meant that all visitors were charmed by the vibrancy of the welcome and the excellence of the food on offer.
The Felicini’s van soon became a local landmark and most nights there was a queue out of the front door of diners waiting for a table.
Felicini’s truly was a family. A fabulous team of top flight Chefs who created some delectable food to eat and front of house staff that had style and panache and turned every eating experience into a truly memorable occasion.
The Felicini’s family extended to the people who dined there too, many became friends and the ongoing interactions between customers and staff helped to create the unique ambience, the atmosphere that made made Felicini’s the go to eatery in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
Two more Felicini’s were opened in Chorlton cum Hardy and in Hale, Cheshire in the next few years.
After 17 fabulous years the time came to take a rest. Felicini’s opened 7 days a weeks every day of the year except Christmas day so you can imagine how demanding that became.
The intention was to take a well earned rest but circumstances overtook our best laid plans and soon we were off to The French in Altrincham and then Beacon Park Golf & Country Club in Dalton, Lancashire.
It was only at the end of 2012 that our full time and very hands on involvement in managing a catering facility came to a close and Felicini’s Fabulous Buffets was born to allow Delfina to pursue her passion for catering excellence without requiring the same 7 day a week commitment.
